Market Research - Dog Walking Service
 

I. Introduction

  • To identify the viability of a dog walking service for my neighborhood

  • To provide my neighborhood with dog walking services

  • Any dog owner in my neighborhood
     

II. Industry Analysis

  • Identify dog owners in the neighborhood (door-to-door, hand out surveys, observe)

  • There is no other known dog walking service in the immediate area

  • It is known that there could be 4 more families who will be getting dogs in the future
     

III. Target Market Analysis

  • The target demographic is not limited to any particular group.  Basically, anyone who owns a dog

  • This service will benefit elderly people who may not get around good, families who are busy and
    might not have time to get their dog a lot of exercise, and just dog lovers in general who just want
    to get there dog more exercise

  • Currently people are walking the dogs on their own, or not walk there dogs enough
     

IV. Marketing and Sales

  • $5 per dog, per 20 minutes.  First walk will be free.

  • Hand out flyers/cards

  • Create a website

  • Send out a mailer and/or go door-to-door
     

V. Financial Projections

  • With 10 homes who have dogs in my target area, my goal is to obtain 6 dog walking jobs

  • I project to walk each dog at least two times per week

  • My only expenses to start will be the upfront cost of paper (ad flyer) and website domain

  • Profit and Loss statement  (Excel spreadsheet at a later date)
